Before I bought the Xterra I had an '03 Accord. I installed an "Blitzsafe" to work with the Aux option for my iPod. The stock radio for my '05 Xterra has no Aux option but does anyone know of some installation options for the '05 Xterra so that I can play my iPod through the stereo. Would my best option be to install an after-market stereo with an Aux option? Or does anyone know of other methods?

Thanks,

Kyle

You can buy the Nissan ipod adaptor, I like mine.

You can find them cheaper, but this gives you the part numbers

There is also this company:

www.usaspec.com

but I have never used their stuff.

I'd love to have one, but my gosh, it's expensive! ($190.00) I could just by a new radio.

Here is what I used.  You would need the RF unit in order to use it.

Thanks for this link! I'll have to talk to Santa and see if this would be cost effective and worth the time.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

I ended up just buying a deck and parts from Ultimate Electronics. I normally don't like them, but got the deck, parts and "free" install for $140. Not sure if it was the greatest deal but here is the deck and parts.

Deck:

(Payed $77.94 at Ultimate)

Parts (Scroll down to the "Frequently Bought Together" section and those are the three parts you need):

I have the RF Stereo, I live just fine with burning MP3's onto CDs in the 6 disk changer.  Get about 12 albums on each CD x 6 CD's - that's quite allot of music.  The Aux Input would be nice tho, just never got around to ordering the thing and ripping the dash apart.

I'm wanting something for my iPhone 3GS but looking like I'll go for a new deck.
The double DIN size sucks when you put a single DIN unit in it so I'll look at the big ones... don't really need DVD and putting a big screen for that and/or nav is like a spot light for theft.
FM mods usually suck...    too bad I don't have the Rockford Fosgate version installed... :/

So I bought a "Mini FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod" from monoprice.com.

It's sorta ghetto to go that route, but for $16 versus a new deck and install time that I don't have etc etc.... It was worth it.

How does it work?
Surprisingly well.  I even stream slacker radio and pandora while driving and once in a blue moon I'll get a little fuzz out noise for less than a second but it works great!  Sounds as good as radio and I didn't recognize bad quality music at all.  I'm sure if you have a nice system that's all dialed in you may hear it a little... but again... $16 bux instead of 3-500...

Works for me! lol
